American Photo #1 Editors Choice 2004

Call it Ken Burns Software.  The creator of The Civil War and other documentary films makes still photos engrossing by using pans, zooms and tilts to keep the story moving. Until recently, though, such effects required an expensive animation stand.  StillMotion Creator does the job for you.  It's simple to use: First you load digital images (scanned or captured) into its Timeline to set sequences and duration.  Then, in the Camera Window, you draw boxes inside each picture telling the program where to start and finish each “virtual camera move.”  Options include rotation, curved camera paths, variable rate zooming, simulated perspective shifts, motion panoramas, continuous loops, and “holds” of specific duration plus transitions.  Finally you save the finished movie in SWF (Flash) and if needed output as AVI, MOV and other video formats.  StillMotion Creator is Windows-only and comes in Standard, Plus and Pro versions. The latter is capable of broadcast quality.

StillMotion Creator is indeed a very smart tool for web designers looking to add special effects to otherwise static web pages......if you have a need for this type of program it is probably a bargain and well worth it.
